The hope to get something started, became a reality through conversations with a lovely lady and dear friend, and through brainstorming we came up with the idea for the “One Voice Project” to raise awareness not only about this one need, but about the Manilow Music Project through which Barry Manilow’s extraordinary generosity keeps music programs thriving in publc schools all over the country through the contribution of musical instruments and financial donations.
As Barry continues to recuperate from his recent surgery, we all want to send him good wishes and vibes. What better way than to show our support to something near and dear to his heart… music!
Please stop by the page and click “Like”My hope is that we’ll raise awareness to Barry’s project and possibly replace the “Concert Tuba” at South Gate High School.
Please do not give any personal information on the Facebook page or mention a dollar amount as to what you might have donated. However, if you’d like to mention that you have done something, please feel free to do so.
South Gate High School band director Ruben Gonzales has set up a fund at the school specifically earmarked for fans of Barry’s who contribute tax deductible contributions, nothing is too small in helping to recover the funds needed.
You can send a check payable to the “Friends of Barry Manilow Tuba Replacement Fund” to the attention of Mr. Gonzales at the address below. Mr. Gonzalez will send you an acknowledgement with the tax deductible receipt.
Mr. Ruben Gonzalez, Music Department, South Gate High School, 3351Firestone Blvd. South Gate, CA 90280, (323) 568-5600 x 5689
